Thanks to its proximity to Piraeus, Agistri stands out as one of the most budget-friendly destinations and is also served by routes all year round.

All ferry companies operating routes to and from Agistri offer fixed discounts. Please keep in mind that these vary by company and type of vessel (conventional or high-speed).

As it is ideal for last-minute getaways, Agistri becomes crowded during the summer and on weekends. In general, ferry routes from Piraeus or Aegina to Agistri operate throughout the year, so you have several options regarding departure times and ferry types. However, if you want more flexibility with your booking, it’s best to follow the tips below based on the period you plan to visit Agistri.

Summer months (June-September): we recommend booking your tickets as early as possible (even a month before your trip). If you decide on a summer weekend getaway to Agistri, it’s best not to leave your ticket purchase until the last minute, as you may not find a seat on the morning departures from the ports connected to Agistri or on the afternoon ferries for your return.

Other months: for the rest of the year, there is generally greater availability for ferry tickets to Agistri. Therefore, you can book your ticket even a few days or just one day before your trip.

Small in size but big in terms of charm, Agistri may not have the traditional architectural grandeur of other Saronic Gulf islands, but it will more than make up for it with its natural beauty. Covered in dense pine forests, with trees reaching the shore in many spots, Agistri is an island you can explore entirely on foot or by bike, with its trails leading you to beaches with emerald, crystal-clear waters. 

Ideal for hiking and cycling enthusiasts, Agistri is a true oasis of relaxation where you will forget the hustle and bustle of the city while being just about an hour away from it!

Agistri has become synonymous with short getaways and is equally preferred by young people, couples, and families. It is a destination you can easily access and will quickly want to return to at the first opportunity. However, this ease is what makes Agistri extremely popular, so here are some useful tips for your visit:

• For your accommodation, you should choose Skala for a relaxed nightlife (do not expect the excesses of other Greek islands). For more tranquility and direct access to the western and southern beaches, opt for Megalochori.
• You can bring your bicycle or rent one there. Distances in Agistri are short, so you'll have complete freedom of movement. You can also rent a motorcycle or discover the island's wonders on foot. 
• If you visit Agistri during the summer or for a weekend getaway, remember to book your accommodation early, as it is usually nearly fully booked. 
• If you're going on a day trip to Agistri, choose one of the early morning ferry routes to have enough time to explore its stunning beaches. A highlight is Aponisos, a small islet where you’ll feel like you've been transported straight to the Caribbean.
• Agistri is an excellent base for some island-hopping adventures in the Saronic Gulf. Take the direct route to Aegina or travel to Poros, Methana, Spetses, and Hydra with a stopover.

Services onboard ferries to Agistri depend on the type of vessel and the company operating the route you will choose.

Flying dolphins and high-speed ferries to Agistri only have standard seating and do not carry vehicles. However, bicycles can be transported for free on most itineraries, and this also applies to conventional ferries, which also have car decks for vehicle transportation.

Cabins and restaurants are unavailable on all types of ferries to Agistri due to the short trip duration.

Agistri has 2 ports close to each other (about 2 km apart) that offer essential tourist facilities: the port of Skala and Milos, the port of Megalochori. Both ports are near their namesake settlements, Skala being the most developed of the two, while Megalochori maintains a more traditional character. The two ports are connected by buses and taxis, which also serve other island areas.
