Souvala is the second largest port on the island and is located 10 km north of the port of Aegina. The picturesque and peaceful port village is an ideal destination for a one-day getaway from Athens, with or without a car.
Take the 08:30 morning ferry to Souvala from Piraeus to reach Aegina before 10:00 and take advantage of the whole day!
Diving in the beautiful Loutra beach
Just a 5-minute walk from the port of Souvala, you will find the magical beach of Loutra. It has white sand and is organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, a beach bar, and restaurant. The beach got its name from the natural spring that was found there, however, that has dried up.
If you don't have a car (or don't want to bring one) and just want to spend a day hanging out on the beach and dining by the sea, you'll find many tavernes and cafes near the port.

If you feel like exploring the island by car, in 15-20 minutes you can discover beautiful settlements and beaches near Souvala:
- Vathy: just after Souvala, at the foot of the hill you will find Vathy, one of the largest and oldest villages of Aegina.
- Vagia: an exquisite sandy beach with a beach bar. If you drive a little further, you'll also find secluded coves for a calm swim.
- Agia Marina: one of the most popular and developed destinations in Aegina. It has an organized beach with crystal clear waters and a beach bar.

Two of the most important sights of Aegina are located on the north side of the island, just 10-15 minutes from Souvala, and are waiting for you to discover them:
- The Temple of Aphaia: an imposing ancient temple dedicated to goddess Athena at the top of a pine-covered hill, with stunning views. On the site, a small archaeological museum can also be found.
- The monastery of Agios Nektarios: near the village of Kontos you will find one of the largest Monasteries of Greece, Agios Nektarios.

Timetables and ferries to Souvala
The northern port of Aegina in Souvala is a breath away from the port of Piraeus: the route Piraeus - Souvala lasts only 1 hour 5 minutes with Saronic Ferries! The new vessel Antigoni that operates this connection has air-conditioned rooms, 2 bars and an open deck to enjoy the sunset on the return journey!
The ticket from Piraeus to Souvala Aegina (and vice versa) costs only €10! The routes run daily from Friday to Sunday. There are usually 4 crossings per day on Fridays and Sundays, and 2-3 sailings per day on Saturdays.
Useful info: Saronic Ferries’ routes to Souvala from Piraeus is temporarily suspended from July 2023. You can travel from Piraeus to the main port of the town of Aegina, instead.
