1. Ferries to/from Naples tend to sell out quickly, especially in summer, so make sure to book ferry tickets in advance.
2. Take advantage of the ferry connections around the Gulf of Naples and plan a trip to Capri, Ischia, and Procida.
3. Some ferries departing from Naples don't allow cars on board, partly due to vehicle restrictions on some islands. If you are traveling to Naples with a vehicle, use the paid car parks around the port, many of which offer a free shuttle service to the port terminals.
4. For the longer trips to Sardinia and Sicily from Naples, you could choose to travel overnight and book a cabin. This will save you time and allow you to rest during the journey.
5. We recommend arriving at the port of Naples at least 1 hour before your departure, especially if you’re traveling in the summer.
6. Remember that taking a ferry from Naples to Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi gives you the best views of the coastline and avoids all the traffic on the roads!

On the longer crossings, using conventional ferries, you can choose between different types of cabins or an airplane-style numbered seat for extra comfort. Hydrofoils, which are designed for faster journeys, usually only offer numbered seats due to the shorter travel times.

For those traveling with their vehicle, conventional ferries have spacious garages for cars, motorbikes, caravans, and bicycles. However, depending on the season, some destinations, such as Capri and Ischia, may have vehicle restrictions for non-residents, so make sure to check the regulations before booking your tickets.

Alternatively, many buses (such as the 151) connect the city center with the port.

From Naples-Capodichino airport, the quickest way is to take the Alibus shuttle bus, which stops both at the main railway station (Piazza Garibaldi) and directly at the port (Molo Beverello). You could also take a taxi or a private transport service. In the vicinity of the port, you can find cafes, shops, pharmacies, and parking areas.
