The city of Dénia is located in the southeast of Spain, halfway between Valencia (about 100 km) and Alicante (about 90 km). Set against the backdrop of the Montgó mountain, Dénia is a quintessential Mediterranean coastal city, combining its striking natural beauty with a laid-back urban vibe.
The Spanish city’s main highlight is its historic quarter and castle, which overlooks whitewashed streets, bustling markets, and colorful houses, revealing its Moorish and Roman past. As Dénia lies on the Costa Blanca, there are also many sandy beaches that are easily accessible from the city center.
Dénia has also been recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy, highlighting its culinary traditions. Some of its local delicacies include arròs a banda (seafood and rice paella), espencat (roasted vegetable salad) and buñuelos de calabaza (sweet pumpkin fritters).
Thanks to its strategic location, Dénia has long been a maritime hub, with its port serving both commercial and passenger vessels, including regular ferry routes to the Balearic Islands.
