Ferry from Piombino to Portoferraio (Elba)

Where do ferries depart from in Piombino?

Ferries to the Island of Elba usually depart from Molo Elba at the port of Piombino. The port is less than 2 km from the town centre and the train station.

Note that Blu Navy departures leave from Pier 1 or 2 in Piazzale Premuda.

Where can I leave my car before departure?

If you’re travelling by ferry from Piombino to Portoferraio without a vehicle, you can leave your car safely within the port area of Piombino. There are several car parks available, both free and paid.

Getting around the Island of Elba

Portoferraio is well connected to the rest of the island. By car, the port can be reached via the SP 24 and SP 26 provincial roads, which lead directly to the boarding area. For those using public transport, several local bus lines stop near the port, making it easy to travel to the island’s main towns and villages.

Marina di Campo Airport, located around 13 km from the port, also offers seasonal connections with selected Italian cities. From the airport, Portoferraio can be reached by taxi or bus.

The crossing from Piombino to Portoferraio takes either 40 min or 1 hr, depending on the route and the ferry operator.
