In addition to special offers on Hvar tickets, you can also take advantage of regular discounts offered by the ferry companies to certain categories of travelers. These discounts may differ from one company to another, but typically infants and children up to 2 years old travel free, while children aged 3 to 11 are entitled to a 50% discount.

The best time to book your ferry tickets depends on when you plan to travel to Hvar. If you are traveling during the summer high season (June to September), book your tickets at least 1 month in advance, as ferries can fill up quickly. 

When traveling in off-peak seasons (spring, fall and winter), you can afford to book a few days in advance, as the ferries are not as busy. Ferry schedules are subject to change, so check Ferryhopper to stay up-to-date with departure times and prices.

Hvar is a peaceful island in the Adriatic, known for its sunny weather, clear waters, and unique blend of nature and history. Here are some useful tips for your ferry trip to Hvar:

• It is highly recommended that you arrive at your port of departure at least 1 hour before your scheduled departure time, to ensure a smooth boarding experience and journey.
• The sea can get choppy, so if you are prone to seasickness, consider taking motion sickness tablets before your journey. As always, you can discuss your options with your pharmacist or doctor.
• The ferry rides to Hvar tend to be short, so cabins are not available.
• To see the island's iconic lavender fields in all their glory, plan your visit in late spring or early summer, from May to mid-July.
• Hvar is an excellent hub for island-hopping in Croatia, with regular connections to the nearby islands of Korčula, Brač and Mljet.

The ferries traveling to Hvar are typically high-speed catamarans, offering basic amenities to ensure a smooth and relaxed trip. During your journey, you can relax indoors in the air-conditioned lounge with a snack or drink.

The amount of luggage you can carry on ferries to Hvar depends on the ferry company:

• Kapetan Luka-Krilo allows passengers to bring luggage with a total weight of up to 23 kg for free.
• TP-Line and Jadrolinija allow passengers to carry luggage weighing up to 20 kg for free.

Hvar has 4 ports connecting it to the Croatian mainland and other islands: Hvar, Stari Grad, Jelsa and Sućuraj. All ports are easily accessible on foot, by car, and by public transportation, with plenty of shops and places nearby for a quick bite or drink.

The most popular port is in the capital city of Hvar, on the western shores of the island. and about 20 km east of Hvar is the port of Stari Grad. The smaller ports of Jelsa and Sućuraj are on the northern side and eastern edge of the island respectively.
