So, if you live in the Canaries, you can hop on the ferry, take advantage of the resident discount, and travel easily from/to the ports of Cádiz and Huelva or between the Canary Islands. How? With ferry tickets on Ferryhopper, of course!

Who is eligible for the Canary Islands resident discount?

If you live in the Canaries, you are eligible for the Canary Islands resident discount. However, in order to be considered a resident of the Canaries, you should be registered in the Town Hall. If you’re successfully registered, you get a Certificate of Residence (Certificado de Empadronamiento) verifying that you reside in the Canary Islands.

More specifically, you are eligible for the resident discount if you fall under one of the following categories:

  • Spanish citizens obtaining an Identity Document (DNI stands for Documento Nacional de Identidad)
  • Foreigners (EU/EEA/ Swiss National) residing in the Canary Islands and holding a Foreigner Identification Number (NIE stands for Número de Identidad de Extranjero)
  • Foreigners (non-EU National) holding a long-term residence permit

How to get your Certificate of Residence in the Canary Islands?

You can easily download your Certificate of Residence from the government websites of the Town Hall you belong to. Las Palmas Town Hall serves Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa, whereas Santa Cruz serves the islands of Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.

Tip: make sure to bring your Certificate of Residence (Certificado de Empadronamiento) with you on the ferry in case you are requested to present it to the ferry company's personnel.
