  • Naples - Amalfi ferry: the ferry connection from the port of Naples to Amalfi is active all year round, and usually has 4-6 daily routes in the high season. The ferry journey can take from 1 hour 45 minutes to 3 hours, depending on the company.
  • Naples - Positano ferry: you can travel between Naples and Positano all year long, up to 7 times a day. Crossings to Positano from Naples range from 40 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of ferry and the operator chosen.
  • Naples - Salerno ferry: you can travel from Naples to Salerno by ferry all year round. However, the route is indirect and includes intermediate stops.
  • Naples - Sorrento ferry: Naples - Sorrento ferries operate all year round with approximately 6 departures per day and crossings of 35-45 minutes.

Useful info: throughout the year, you can also take the ferry to Sorrento from Castellammare di Stabia, which is about 28 km from Naples. On the other hand, Castellammare di Stabia - Positano ferries are usually available from April to October by NLG.

For example, the Genoa - Olbia ferry in 2024 will operate from early May until the end of October, with 1-3 departures per day. On the other hand, the Piombino - Olbia ferry route will operate from June 8, 2024 until early September and remains the fastest way to reach Sardinia from mainland Italy.

  • Naples - Capri ferry: the Naples - Capri ferries operate more than 20 daily crossings with a duration of about 50 minutes.

  • Civitavecchia (Rome) - Cagliari ferry: the connection to Cagliari from Civitavecchia runs year-round with 3 trips per week, normally in the evening. Crossings can last between 13 and 15 hours.
  • Piombino - Elba ferry: ferries from Piombino to Elba Island operate all year round with about 50 crossings per day during summer. The average duration of crossings varies between 15 minutes and 1 hour depending on the port of arrival (Portoferraio, Rio Marina or Cavo).
  • Porto Santo Stefano - Giglio Island ferry: from Porto Santo Stefano you can reach Giglio Island all year round. Porto Santo Stefano - Giglio ferries operate with multiple departures per day and 1-hour trips.
  • Termoli - Tremiti Islands ferry: the connection from the port of Termoli to the Tremiti Islands operates with more than 20 weekly sailings. Termoli - Tremiti Islands ferry crossings range between 50 minutes and 1 hour depending on the operator chosen.

Traveling from Italy to Spain 365 days a year is possible! From the Italian ports of Civitavecchia, Genoa and Porto Torres, you can travel by ferry to Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia.

If you’re wondering how to reach Malta from Italy by ferry in 2024, you should know that the only available routes depart from Sicily.

Specifically, the port of Pozzallo (in the province of Ragusa) is connected all year round to Valletta, the capital of Malta. Depending on the time of year, the operator Virtu Ferries provides from 1 to 3 departures per day. The Pozzallo - Malta ferry trip takes only 1 hour 45 minutes.

Note: until September 2022, it was also possible to reach Malta from the small port of Augusta, in the province of Syracuse, in Sicily.

Ferries from Italy to France and Corsica in 2024

If you dream of a vacation in France and also want to visit Corsica, you should know that you can reach both from Italy by ferry.

Italy - France routes include departures from the port of Porto Torres in Sardinia, which is connected to 2 ports on the French peninsula: Nice and Toulon

Useful info: Moby Lines has announced the new 2024 Genoa - Ajaccio ferry line, which be active from the 4th of June to the 30th of September with 9-hour overnight trips. Moby ferries will also operate the Piombino - Bastia route starting from late June 2024.

Ferries from Italy to Morocco and Tunisia in 2024

Did you know that ferries to North Africa depart from Italy as well? You can take the ferry to Tunis from Palermo, or choose one of the sailings to Tunis from Genoa, Salerno or Civitavecchia.

Being located further south than the others, Palermo is the closest port to Tunisia, and the shortest crossing to Tunis takes a bit over 10 hours.

As for Italy - Morocco routes, the Genoa - Tangier ferry remains available for 2024, operating all year round. Keep in mind that the crossing to Tangier from Italy is not short and some routes include a stopover in Barcelona.

The GNV company also offers the occasional Civitavecchia - Tangier route, which will be available for only 3 days in 2024 (June 20, July 18, and August 15).
