Although most of the ferry companies offer e-tickets (electronic tickets), still some don't provide this option. Therefore, passengers may be required to pick up their ferry tickets. You can find all the ticket collection points listed in your booking confirmation email along with your reservation number, ticket number, and information on the boarding process.
In case you are required to have paper tickets, you can collect them from any of the following collection points:
As soon as you complete your booking, you will receive an email with detailed information about all the ticket collection points. You can click on the link for each collection point to view the exact location and contact details.
If you would like to pick up your ferry tickets from the ticket booth at your departure gate, please rest assured that ticket booths are always open at least 1 hour before the ferry's scheduled departure. You can contact the authorized travel agencies to find out their exact working hours. It's worth mentioning that some local agencies might ask for an additional printing cost. This is a very rare occasion and we want to confirm that Ferryhopper does not benefit from these charges. That is why we have added a note indicating that additional cost in case you choose that pick-up option.
Important note: In case you have already collected your ferry tickets, any cancellation or change can only be processed if you return your tickets either to our offices or to the authorized travel agency.

Apart from your ticket in a printed or e-ticket format, you should always have your ID card, passport, or any other identity document with you, especially on international ferry routes. Please note that for some regions and depending on the period of stay, you may additionally need a Visa. Always check your destination's official government website and our blog for further information. You may be asked to present the document to the ferry crew or port authority to confirm that you are the legal ticket holder.
If you have purchased discounted ferry tickets, you will be required to provide a document confirming that you are eligible for the specific discount (e.g. student card, ISIC card, etc.). For more information please visit our 'Discounts' page.

Every ferry company has different rules and procedures for boarding. You can find all the relevant information for each leg of your trip in your booking confirmation email. In case you are traveling with more than one ferry company, please note that the boarding process may be different for each company.
On international ferry routes the boarding process may take longer compared to domestic routes. Please make sure that you bring all the necessary documents with you, otherwise you will not be allowed to board the ferry!

Most of the Greek and Italian, and some Spanish ferry companies, provide e-tickets. You can easily recognize if the ferry company supports e-tickets during the booking process (there is a square pixel icon of a QR code next to the departure time) or check our Ferry Operators' page.
Printing e-tickets is optional, which means that it is not required by most ferry companies except for Fast Ferries in Greece. Therefore, if you are traveling with Fast Ferries, you have to print out your e-ticket. If you are not traveling with the aforementioned ferry company, you can just store and present your e-ticket on your mobile device or tablet when boarding.
To check-in online and get your boarding pass, you can click on the links provided in your booking confirmation email. You can either download your boarding pass on your mobile device or print it out and bring it with you. The most important piece of advice is to make sure your device is fully charged; we all know that having your phone run out of battery is not very pleasant - especially while traveling.

Every ferry company has different rules and procedures for boarding, such as online check-in, port check-in, paper coupons, and e-tickets.
However, there are very few ferry companies that allow you to board by simply showing your booking confirmation email, which includes your personal details and your reservation code. You can either show the email on your device (phone, tablet) or print it out and bring it with you.
On international ferry routes the boarding process may take longer compared to domestic routes. At some ports, especially in Spain and Italy, you have to go to the ferry company’s terminal to collect your boarding pass, much like you would at an airport. In this case, you will have to show your booking confirmation email and check in at the company’s check-in desk in order to be allowed to board.
Please make sure that you bring all the necessary documents with you, otherwise you will not be allowed to board the ferry!
You can find all the relevant information for each leg of your trip in your booking confirmation email. In case you are traveling with more than one ferry company, please note that the boarding process may be different for each company.

It depends on the port you are leaving from. Some major ports (e.g. Piraeus, Naples, Valencia, etc.) are quite big. This means you may have to walk for up to 30 minutes to get from the port entrance to the departure gate.
Arriving early enough means that you won't have to worry about missing your ferry. This is why we usually advise all travelers to arrive at the port at least 1 hour in advance, regardless of whether they have collected their paper tickets or checked in online, especially if you are traveling with your vehicle.
We would also advise you to check what gate your ferry departs from, where the gate is located and what is the estimated time needed to board at the specific port. Gate information is available at the port.
Please make sure that you allow enough time for check-in and other procedures, particularly on international ferry routes. It is important to note that if you arrive late for check-in or boarding, you may not be allowed to travel. In this case, you will most likely not get a refund.
If you arrive early at the port, you will most likely be allowed to board and you will have the opportunity to explore the ferry, find comfortable seats and spend some time relaxing on-board before departure!

All big ports have different departure gates (e.g. the port of Piraeus). You will usually find electronic boards at the port entrances informing passengers about departure gates and departure times for each ferry company and vessel. At some ports, every company has its own separate terminal. In this case, you can simply go to the company’s terminal. If you need assistance finding your departure gate, you can always ask the port staff for help.
Please note that the departure / arrival port may change at the last minute if the ferry cannot dock due to adverse weather conditions or other reasons. Therefore, we recommend that you ask the local travel agency or the port authority to verify where your ferry will be departing from / arriving.
You can find more information about the port of Piraeus on our blog.
If you are preparing for your trip to Morocco by ferry, please keep in mind that there are 2 different ports, Tanger Med & Tangier Ville. The port of Tanger Med is connected to Italy, Spain, France, and Gibraltar. On the other hand, the port of Tangier Ville operates ferry connections only to the city of Tarifa in southern Spain. You can find more information on our blog.
Furthermore, if you are planning to visit the autonomous community of Catalonia, you should know that Barcelona Port is one of the most important ports worldwide, connecting many destinations in the Mediterranean (Balearics, Italy, North Africa). Kindly note that there are 3 ferry passenger terminals at the port of Barcelona: Terminal Drassanes, Terminal Ferry Barcelona, and Grimaldi Terminal Barcelona. Moreover, many ferry companies operate in the Barcelona Port, such as Baleària, Trasmed, Grimaldi Lines, Grandi Navi Veloci, and others. You can find more information on our blog.

Mykonos has two ferry ports, located about 2.5 kilometers apart: the Old Port and the New Port. The new port, located in Tourlos, is where all the big ferries arrive and depart from, whereas the old port now serves only itineraries on occasion.
Please note that the departure / arrival port may change at the last minute if the ferry cannot dock due to adverse weather conditions or other reasons. Therefore, we recommend that you re-confirm with the port staff (+30 22890 22218) to verify where your ferry will be departing from / arriving.
You can find more information about Mykonos and its ports on our blog.

Unlike Mykonos, Santorini (or Thira) has only one ferry port, the port of Athinios. This is where all passenger ferries arrive at and depart from in Santorini. The port of Athinios is located on the western coast of the island. You can find more information about Santorini and the port of Athinios οn our blog.

If you have collected your ticket and you lose it, then you will not be allowed to travel with just your reservation or ticket number, as the paper ticket is required to board the ferry. In this case, we recommend that you contact the ferry company directly, as they are responsible for replacing your ticket.
After informing the ferry company, you will have to purchase a new ticket in order to travel and declare the loss in writing. If the lost ticket hasn't been used within a number of months after your departure date, the ferry company will replace it with a ticket of equal value.
Please note that losing your ticket is not the same as canceling your ticket. In the former case, you are not entitled to a refund.
